Print Bureau Credentials and trends for 2022 | Ardian

As organizations return to planning events reminiscent of pre-pandemic times, print bureau credentialing has evolved from standard identification and venue access to a depository of private medical data such as COVID vaccine and health status records; thus creating an opportunity for security breaches and cybersecurity attacks. The answer to facilitating the return of normalcy in large gatherings and public events is security.

With new layers being added to the credentialing and compliance protocols, organizations are prioritizing data security to build confidence among stakeholders, customers and attendees.

Looking ahead at what 2022 has in store for credentialing within the print bureau space, organizations can expect new layers of integration within their existing systems and added requirements to meet new expectations.

  • Built-in data security. This begins at the first step of scanning QR, barcodes and RFID. After a secure credential issuance has been employed, next steps in security protocols is how the data is transmitted, retrieved and stored.

  • Custom credentialing design. With components of credentials now requiring additional features to access COVID vaccine and health status records or touch-less methods such as mobile apps, organizations now require advanced design implementations to assure meeting all compliance requirements while maintaining brand identity.

  • Ownership of attendee data. As consumer data increasingly becomes more important to an organization, so does the ownership and overall security of the consumer data. With an influx of new companies offering event and credentialing solutions, favorable pricing is due to these 3rd parties being able to access, sell and market to attendees directly. In a society where data is king, inability to access customer data for internal insights, direct sales or marketing is a lost opportunity for organizations.

In the return to large gatherings and public events, COVID vaccine and health status records will become a standard part of the processing in issuing credentials. As these processes become standard, organizations will need to additionally focus on implementing solutions that provide a secure approach; ensuring the integrity and validity of the information and respecting the data protection regulations on privacy and confidentiality.
