Credentialing Software in the Phygital Metaverse | Ardian Technologies

New words enter our lexicon to describe evolving thought processes, human experiences and products that change our daily lives. A term becoming increasingly popular is Phygital; the concept of using technology to bridge the digital world with the physical world with the purpose of providing a unique interactive experience to the user. With the growing adoption of WFH, virtual events and most recently the Metaverse - everyday we witness an increasing number of case studies where the digital and physical world merge into one.

With the advent of the phygital space and the opportunities offered to both businesses and end-users alike, new technologies are being presented that can merge the physical and digital world with seamless integration. Credentialing management software has been at the core of successful physical events over the past 2 years. With COVID playing a pivotal role in how real life events were required to pivot to virtual events - physical events have reemerged, but this time with a new series of compliance protocols and advanced data security to protect and build confidence among stakeholders and attendees.

Examining the current ecosystem of credentialing software in alignment with the way events are produced, organizations and customers can expect new layers of integration within their existing systems while adding additional features to meet new expectations. Looking ahead into using existing systems within the confines of phygital spaces (such as the Metaverse) requires Credentialing software that can exceed the base requirements:

  • Built-in data security. This begins at the first step of scanning QR, barcodes and RFID. After a secure credential issuance has been employed, next steps in security protocols is how the data is transmitted, retrieved and stored.

  • Custom credentialing design. With components of credentials now requiring additional features to access COVID vaccine and health status records or touch-less methods such as mobile apps, organizations now require advanced design implementations to assure meeting all compliance requirements while maintaining brand identity.

  • Ownership of attendee data. As consumer data increasingly becomes more important to an organization, so does the ownership and overall security of the consumer data. With an influx of new companies offering event and credentialing solutions, favorable pricing is due to these 3rd parties being able to access, sell and market to attendees directly. In a society where data is king, inability to access customer data for internal insights, direct sales or marketing is a lost opportunity for organizations.

As organizations explore the phygital world, the central theme will be merging the physical and digital world seamlessly with an emphasis on security, customization, and data ownership.  As these technologies soon become standard operating procedures, organizations successfully bridging the gap will already have a strong foothold on the future of experiences.
